I myself learned the basics of video production in college and it is great. However, college courses also include a lot of unnecessary subjects that distracts your endeavor in learning how to make videos. I’m not saying that learning video production from a university is bad. It’s just that, if you want to learn how to make videos solely and focus on it alone, you might want to consider grabbing training materials from the internet and learn by yourself instead. When we were young, we were told that we must get a course that is related to the things that we love to do. Just find the nearest university in your area that offers a video production course, and enroll to that school. Let me just warn you that you might be spending money more than you need to, in learning how to make videos. You might also be required to get subjects that you are not really interested with. However, learning from a university is also great since you can meet a lot of people and learn things with classmates and teachers.

I know a lot of professional video makers who never earned a BS degree in filmmaking. They simply learned things by experience. The good thing about learning by yourself is that, you don’t have to spend that much like you do in a university. You can use your money instead to buy equipment you need such as cameras, computer, software, and other video production accessories.

If you are still young and you have the budget, you can go to a university and learn how to make videos from there. However, if you solely want to learn how to make videos and make it your personal business soon, I recommend that you rather learn in your own.
