Video Production Seminar for Government Health Workers

First off, sorry for not posting here last week. I got a bit busy with so many things like my video editing jobs and internet marketing. Anyway, let me now chat with you about the video production seminar we had with the government health workers. I can say that the experience was really fun and amazing!

The seminar happened on March 6 to 8 at the Summer Place Hotel here in Baguio City. Before the seminar, I prepared the lesson from scratch because I lost all the presentations I made before when I was teaching in college. I was a bit nervous thinking about it but excited as well.

First Day

Okay, March 6 came rapidly and I had to wake up at 5AM. To he honest, my presentation is not yet fully done but I guess it’s fine because this day, the schedule says I’ll be presenting on the script writing for video. I then went to the place early and so I waited to for them for a while. They finally arrived and I admit my heart beat is becoming faster. They introduced themselves and I felt like I’m really so small and low because these guys and gals are head of offices and what not. Some of them are medical doctors and all are really professionals.

Well, my part finally came and I told them that it’s really an honor to speak in front of them. I then discussed on the lessons that we will be learning in the three days. I started with script writing and we actually went fast. They said that I can already present the storyboard making as well. I don’t have visual aids yet for storyboard samples because we had an internet connection problem at home during that time. Thank God there is a wifi connection in the place so while they are having a break, I immediately grabbed some storyboard samples online. I then discussed it again and also drew samples on the white board.

Well, things happened fast again and they said that I can now proceed to shooting. I said “wow!” Things are really fast. I did not expect to discuss until shooting in just a day. These folks are really excited and I have to do things as fast as I can. It’s a good thing my shooting presentation is ready so I taught them about it immediately. Whew! Script writing, storyboarding, and shooting are all done in the first day!

I went home and told my wife about all things that happened in the first day of the seminar. We’re happy about it but I’m also worried about one thing. I have to find an installer of Adobe Premiere Pro for 32 bit because it’s already my next lesson. My last resort is to go to our office and borrow my boss’s installer.

Second Day

I was late this day because me and my boss have to find the old installer of Adobe Premiere. I was there at 10 and geez they are really waiting for me. I apologized for coming late and then I immediately help them install the program to their laptops for us to proceed with the video editing lessons.

After the installation hurdles, I then began teaching them how to edit videos using Premiere. It was a bit of a challenge on how to teach them this technical stuff at first but I’m glad I did it. I’m happy to see them getting excited in editing their own videos. In the whole day, we were able to tackle the basics of Adobe Premiere.

Third Day

This day, I taught them how to record a narration using Adobe Audition. They then proceeded to editing their videos and I’m just there to assist in case some are having problems.

In the afternoon, they showcased some of the videos they made. While there are few pointers, I’m really happy that they were able to make videos in just one day editing. I told them that it took me a week actually to finish my very first 4 minutes music video.

The seminar finally ended successfully and I’m really happy with the experience. I’m glad to meet these professionals and share some skills I acquired over the past years. Well, these folks got those skills in just three days. I actually learned those things in more than 5 years.
